Let’s continue our study of the new Jerusalem.

Revelation 21:21 The twelve gates were twelve pearls, each gate made of a single pearl. The great street of the city was of pure gold, like transparent glass.

This scripture says that each gate was made of a single pearl. That is bigger than any pearl found in present day nature. Again, this scripture is probably symbolic.

A pearl is a hard, glistening object that comes in many shapes and colors. It is the only precious stone that cannot be improved by man. It probably symbolizes the perfection and purity of this kingdom. Mathew 13:45 compares the kingdom of heaven to a pearl of great price. So great is this kingdom or pearl that you would be wise to sell everything you have to enter it.

The above scripture also says that the great street of the new Jerusalem was pure gold, like transparent glass. The brilliancy is so far beyond ordinary gold that it appears as transparent. This part of the scripture also symbolizes the absolute perfection and purity of the new Jerusalem and new earth.

The next scripture says the new Jerusalem and the new earth is so pure that nothing impure will enter it.

Revelations 21:27 Nothing impure will ever enter it, nor will anyone who does what is shameful or deceitful, but only those whose name is written in the Lamb’s book of life.

In other words, you must believe in Jesus Christ and receive the holiness of the Holy Spirit, who dwells within you. Only then can you enter the new Jerusalem and new earth.

Thank you so much for studying. God bless.
