Welcome and thanks for reading.  Last week we read that the animal sacrifice was symbolic.  It symbolically took
the place of the death that was due sinful man.  Also, it demonstrated that a person believed in God.

This week, let’s read about the tent where the animal sacrifice took place.

God told Moses that the sacrificial offerings were to take place in a “Tent of Meeting.”  The Tent of Meet-
ing was to demonstrate intimacy and oneness with God.  This tent was originally movable.  When the Jews
reached the promised land, the tent was built as a permanent structure.  It was destroyed three times by warring

The Tent of Meeting was made of curtain walls of finely twisted linen, 30 feet wide and 150 feet
long.  Entering the first half, approximately 30 feet wide by 75 feet long, is an area with a bronze
altar.  The bronze altar is where the animal was slaughtered and some of the blood was gathered.

Leviticus 17:11  For the life of the creature is in the blood, and I have given it to you to make atonement for
yourselves on the altar;  it is the blood that makes atonement for ones life.

As we have mentioned, the animal sacrifice symbolically took the death that was due sinful man.

In the back of the Tent of Meeting was a smaller tent.  It was made of finely twisted linen and blue,
purple and scarlet yarn.  It was covered with layers of woven goat hair and ram skin died red.  Moses, Aaron
or the High Priest brought some of the gathered blood from the sacrificed animal to this smaller tent.  Before
entering this smaller tent, they had to wash their hands and feet in a bronze basin.  This was sym-
bolic of mans soul being clean, pure and sinless before entering this smaller tent.

Next week we will read how the smaller tent was divided into the Holy Place and the Most Holy Place which is
where Moses, Aaron and the High Priest entered the presence of God.

Thank you so much for reading.  God bless.
