Hell 5

This week, most Christians know that Christ died on the cross and rose from the dead after three days, but where
did Jesus go during those three days?

1 Peter 3:19  …He was put to death in the body but made alive in the Spirit, through whom also he went and
preached to the spirits in prison who disobeyed long ago when God waited patiently in the days of Noah
while the ark was being built.

Jesus descended into hell for three days and preach to the unbelievers of the past.  He may have pro-
claimed the gospel or he may have made a declaration of victory or both.

Contrary to some Christians belief, Christ DID NOT descend into hell to bring early believers out of a place
called Abraham’s Bosom.  There is no such thing as Abraham’s Bosom- a so called good area of hell that
held believers until the time of Jesus.

The false idea of Abraham’s Bosom comes from Luke 16:19-26.  These scriptures are a story or parable to make a
point.  Jesus often spoke in parables.  The phrase Abraham’s Bosom is never mentioned.  The great chasm
between the rich man and Lazarus refers to the separation between hell and heaven (heaven is where Abraham re-
sides) and not the separation between hell and some holding place where Abraham supposedly resided.

Again, there is no such thing as a holding place.  Reading 2 Corinthians 5:8 Apostle Paul says “We are of good courage, I say, and prefer to be absent from the body and home with the Lord.”  Believers go immediately to
heaven and nonbelievers go immediately to hell.

Next week we will conclude our study of hell.

Thank you so much for reading. God bless.

Last week we read that Israel, the city of Jerusalem and the First Temple of God was destroyed by the
Babylonians in 586 BC (before Christ).

Babylon only had control of Israel for a short time.  Cyrus the Great and the Persian Empire conquered this area
in 539 BC.

Cyrus the Great was to rebuild the temple.

Ezra 1:2  This is what Cyrus king of Persia says:  “The Lord, the God of heaven, has given me all the kingdoms of
the earth and he appointed me to build a temple for him at Jerusalem in Judah.

2 Chronicles 36:23  This is what Cyrus king of Persia says:  “The Lord, God of heaven, has given me all the king-
dom of the earth and he has appointed me to build a temple for him at Jerusalem in Judah.

The Jews that were exiled under Babylon’s rule are now encouraged to return and help build the Temple.

Ezra 1:3  Anyone of his people among you-  may his God be with him, and let him go up to Jerusalem in
Judah and build the Temple of the Lord, the God of Israel.

2 Chronicles 32:23  … Anyone of his people among you- may the Lord his God be with him, and let him go
up.

After some interference and delays, the second Temple of God was completed in 516 BC, seventy years
after the First Temple was destroyed.  This fulfilled Daniels prophecy.

Daniel 9:2  In the first year of his reign (Darius the king of Babylon), I (Daniel) understood from the scriptures,
according to the word of the Lord given to Jeremiah the prophet, that the desolation of Jerusalem would last
seventy years.

Thank you so much for reading.  God bless.

Let’s continue reading Revelation 12.

Revelation 12:10  Then I heard a loud voice in heaven say:  Now have come the salvation and the power and
the kingdom of our God and the authority of his Christ.

Revelation 12:12  Therefore rejoice, you heavens and you who dwell in them!  But woe to the earth and the
sea because the devil has gone down to you!  He is filled with fury because he knows his time is short.

Revelation 12:13  When the dragon saw that he had been hurled to the earth, he pursued the woman (Israel/Mary) who had given birth to the male child (Jesus).

These scriptures tell us that Satan was not hurled to the earth until shortly after the birth of Jesus.

From Revelation 12:7-9 (last weeks study) we know that Satan and the rebellious angels were hurled to the earth
at the same time.  Therefore, the rebellious angels or demons were not on the earth during Genesis nor
anytime in the Old Testament.

Again, the “sons of God” in Genesis 6:1-2 could not be rebellious angels or demons.

Next week we will read that Satan tempted people but he was not permanently hurled to the earth until shortly
after the birth of Jesus.

Thank you so much for reading.  God bless.

A Second Final Note:  Often, married couples say that they prayed about their spouse before they got married and
God confirmed that he/she was the one.  I believe that God would have confirmed any person that an in-
dividual fell in love with, as long as the individual was a decent person and loves the Lord.  Also, this
person should not be divorced except for unfaithfulness by a previous marital spouse.

I also believe if a man or woman choose to remain single in undivided devotion to the Lord, God will
confirm that decision.  You have a choice.

Next week is the conclusion to Specific Mate.

Thank you so much for reading.  God bless.

The waters receded.

Genesis 8:1  But God remembered Noah and all the wild animals and the livestock that were with him in the ark,
and he sent a wind over the earth, and the waters receded.

Genesis 8:13  By the first day of the first month of Noah’s six hundred and first year, the water had dried up
from the earth.

Genesis 8:15  Then God said to Noah, “Come out of the ark, you and your wife and your sons and their wives.
Bring out every living creature that is with you.

Genesis 8:17  Bring out every kind of living creature that is with you- the birds, the animals, and all the
creatures that move along the ground-  so they can multiply on the earth and be fruitful and increase in num-
ber upon it.

The waters dried up and Noah and the animals came out of the ark.  Noah’s family and the animals were
to multiply and increase in number.

Next week, the covenant God made with Noah and all generations to come.  The sign of this covenant can still
be seen today.

Thank you so much for reading.  God bless.

This week let’s read about the Siwalik Hills of the Himalayas.  The Himalayas are the highest mountain range in
the world and home of Mount Everest, the world’s highest peak.

Durring the 19th century, the Siwalik Hills revealed fossil evidence of many forms of marine organisms such as fish
and clams.

In the book Earth in Upheavel, written by Immanuel Velikovsky, the following statement is made:

The Siwalik Hills are so stocked with animals of so many and such varied species that the animal
world of today seems impoverished by comparison.  It looks as though all the animals have invaded
       the world at one time.

But how did these marine organisms get to these heights?  The Siwalik Hills are three thousand to four thousand
feet in height.

The flood of Noah’s time explains how the sea life got up to the mountain range.  As the flood waters
receded, sea life was deposited on mountain levels.

Remember Genesis 7:20  The waters rose and covered the mountains to a depth of more than fifteen
cubits (22.5 feet).

This archaeological site supports the idea of a great flood killing many of the sea animals.  The hot
errupting springs on the ocean floor and the mighty waves killed and scrambled the sea life, deposit-
ing them high on the Siwalik Hills of the Himalayas.

Next week we will read about one more fossil site.  A site located in central Burma.

Thank you so much for reading.  God bless.

Last week we concluded that there were far fewer variations of animals during Noah’s time than there are today.

In “Noah’s Ark:  A Feasibility Study,” John Woodmorappe counted the total number of kinds that all different
animal species could have come from.  He counted the living kinds and the extinct kinds.  He estimated about
8000 kinds.  Each kind came in pairs of two.  This means there would be about 16,000 total animals in the
ark.

Could 16000 animals fit in the ark?  The ark had three levels and was 300 X 50 X 30 cubits which is about
459 X 75 X 44 feet.  Multiplying these numbers, the ark was about 1.514 million cubic feet.  This is equal to 522
american railroad cars.

If the animals were kept in cages or spaces an average size of 20 X 20 X 20 inches.  Multiplying these numbers, the
average space per animal was about 4800 cubic inches.  This means the 16000 animals would only occupy
42,000 cubic feet or 14.4 railroad cars.  That leaves 507.6 railroad cars for miscalculation or some bigger
animals.

Counting insects.  If there was as many as 1 million insect kinds that required 4 X 4 inches of space, they would
only need 1000cm3 or another 12 railroad cars.  So, all of the animal kinds would require 26.4 railroad cars
of space.  That still leaves about 495 railroad cars for miscalculation, food, walking space and some
larger animals.

Amphibians and invertebrates survived in the sea with fish and sea creatures.  Some animals like frogs could have
survived in the ark or on trees, branches, leaves, etc. floating in the sea.

Dinosaurs probably entered the ark as young animals or infants to save space.

Thank you so much for reading.  God bless.
