CONCLUSION:  Based on scripture, THE TITHE REFERS TO TEN PERCENT OF THE PRODUCE FROM THE LAND
OF THE ELEVEN ISRAELITE TRIBES.  Annually, the produce was taken to the city where the central sanctuary
was located.  At that time, at an initial festival, all Israelites ate part of the tithe.  The rest, majority of it, was
distributed to the priests and Levites (twelfth tribe), for they had no land inheritance of their own.

At the end of every three years, a portion of the tithe was meant for the aliens, the fatherless and the widows.
The less fortunate.

THERE ARE NO SCRIPTURES THAT CONNECT THE TITHE TO MONEY.  In fact, the scriptures say that a
Christian can give what they have decided in their heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God
loves a cheerful giver.

I believe a Christian can give one percent or five percent or ten percent or fifteen percent or thirty percent,
etc. of their income to the church.  Just be a cheerful giver (whether in money, material things or your time)
and give what you are compelled to give from your heart.  Also, as a generous and cheerful giver, God will
return many blessings to you.

As we have read in the category of “specific mate” for a person, or “specific plan” for a persons life, the sub-
ject of “how much money a Christian should give to the church” is a CHOICE.  God has no preference.  YOU
ARE FREE.

Next week we will begin “prosperity?”  According to scripture, how does a Christian become prosperous?

Thank you so much for reading.  God bless.

Welcome.  Although God has no command to how much Christians should give, here are more scriptures to
demonstrate the heart of a generous giver.

Proverbs 11:24  One man GIVES FREELY, YET GAINS EVEN MORE;  another withholds unduly, but comes to
poverty.

Proverbs 19:17  He who is kind to the poor lends to the Lord, and HE WILL REWARD HIM FOR WHAT HE
HAS DONE.

Proverbs 21:13  If a man shuts his ears to the cry of the poor, HE TOO WILL CRY OUT AND NOT BE AN-
SWERED.

Proverbs 22:9  A GENEROUS MAN WILL HIMSELF BE BLESSED, for he shares his food with the poor.

Luke 6:38  GIVE, AND IT WILL BE GIVEN TO YOU.

2 CORINTHIANS 9:8  And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that in all things at all times,
HAVING ALL THAT YOU NEED, YOU WILL ABOUND IN EVERY GOOD WORK.

2 Corinthians 9:10  Now he (God) who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food will also supply and
increase your store of seed and will enlarge the harvest of your righteousness.  YOU WILL BE MADE RICH
IN EVERY WAY SO THAT YOU CAN BE GENEROUS ON EVERY OCCASION, and through us your generosity
will result in thanksgiving to God.

These versus tell us that GENEROSITY IS THE PATH TO BLESSINGS AND FURTHER PROSPERITY.  God will
bless and prosper in every way those that give generously from the heart.

IF YOU USE GODS RESOURCES WELL, HE WILL SUPPLY YOU WITH MORE AND MORE.  THIS IS NOT JUST
TO MEET YOUR NEEDS BUT BECAUSE HE KNOWS THAT YOU WILL GIVE GENEROUSLY AGAIN AND AGAIN
ON EVERY OCCASION.  ANOTHER WORDS, HE GIVES TO YOU BECAUSE HE CAN COUNT ON YOU TO GIVE
TO OTHERS WHO ARE IN NEED.

Some examples of blessings that you will receive are blessings of kindness, blessings of love, blessings of
peace of mind, blessings of people accepting the Lord, blessings of having enough to eat and shelter and
even blessings of monetary value.

Next week we will sum up what we have read in tithing 1-9 before beginning our study of “prosperity.”

Thank you so much for reading.  God bless.

A CHRISTIAN IS UNDER NO COMMAND FROM GOD TO GIVE TEN PERCENT TO THE CHURCH.  A CHRISTIAN
IS ONLY UNDER THE COMMAND TO GIVE WHAT THEY HAVE DECIDED IN THEIR HEART TO GIVE.

Although God has no command to how much a Christian should give, the following three scriptures show
the heart of generous givers.

The Macedonian Christians to the distressed Jerusalem Christians.

2 Corinthians 8:2  … their overflowing joy and their extreme poverty welled up in rich generosity.  For I
testify that they gave as much as they were able, and even beyond their ability.

Believers that claimed none of their possessions as their own.

Acts 4:34  For from time to time those who owned lands and houses sold them, brought the money from
the sales and put it at the apostles feet, and it was distributed to anyone as he had need.

A poor widow gave two very small copper coins, worth only a fraction of a penny.

Mark 12:44  “I tell you the truth, this poor widow has put more into the treasury than all others.  They all
gave out of their wealth;  but she, out of her poverty, put in everything- all she had to live on.

These three verses describe the heart of generous givers.  Christians should be generous givers when people
are in need.

Next week, we will review more scriptures on being a generous giver and how it benefits your life.

Thank you so much for reading.  God bless.

In tithing 6 we established that money existed in the old testament, but THERE ARE NO SCRIPTURES THAT
INCLUDE MONEY IN THE TITHE.

So, where does money come in?  How much money should Christians give to the church?

Dueteronomy 12:6  … there bring your burnt offerings and sacrifices, your tithes (produce from the land)
and special gifts, WHAT YOU VOWED TO GIVE AND YOUR FREEWILL OFFERINGS and the firstborn of your
herds and flocks.

There are no specific scriptures that refer to how much money a person should give to God or the church.
I believe this is because it falls under the category of WHAT YOU HAVE VOWED TO GIVE AND YOUR FREE-
WILL OFFERING.

Here is a New Testament verse that refers to giving in general.

2 Corinthians 9:7  Each man SHOULD GIVE WHAT HE HAS DECIDED IN HIS HEART TO GIVE, not reluctantly
or under compulsion, FOR GOD LOVES A CHEERFUL GIVER.

Your attitude when you give is more important than the amount you give.  WHETHER YOU GIVE SPECIAL
GIFTS, FOOD, MONEY OR YOUR TIME, YOU SHOULD GIVE WHATEVER YOU HAVE DECIDED IN YOUR HEART
TO GIVE.

A CHRISTIAN IS UNDER NO COMMAND FROM GOD TO GIVE TEN PERCENT TO THE CHURCH.  A CHRISTIAN
IS ONLY UNDER THE COMMAND TO GIVE WHAT THEY HAVE DECIDED IN THEIR OWN HEART.

Although there is no set amount a christian should give to the church, next week we will look at the heart of
a generous giver.

Thank you so much for reading.  God bless.

Welcome and thanks for reading.  In Tithing 1-5 we have read that the tithe refers to THE PROVISION OF
FOOD FROM THE LAND, NOT MONEY.

But many Christians believe the tithe in the Old Testament refers to the produce from the land because
they did not have money at this time in history.  Let’s look at the following scriptures.

Proverbs 13:11  Dishonest MONEY dwindles away, but he who gathers MONEY little by little makes it grow.

Ecclesiastes 5:10  Whoever loves MONEY never has MONEY enough;  whoever loves wealth is never satis-
fied with his INCOME.

Isaiah 55:1  Come, all you who are thirsty, come to the waters;  and you who have no MONEY, come and
eat!

These scriptures tell us that there was money during the time of the Old Testament, but THERE ARE NO
SCRIPTURES THAT INCLUDE MONEY IN THE TITHE.

So, where does money come in?  How much money should Christians give to the church?  Next week we
will read how much money a Christian should give to the church.

Thank you so much for reading.  God bless.

Thanks for reading.  Let’s begin to read if money is considered part of the tithe?  Many Christians believe
that if you don’t give 10% of your money to the church, you are robbing God.  This comes from the follow-
ing verse in the last book of the Old Testament.

Malachi 3:8  “How do we rob you?”  “In tithes and offerings.  You are under a curse-  the whole nation of
you (Israel)-  because you are robbing me.”

But if you read the entire scripture, the TITHE BEING ROBBED IS NOT MONEY but the produce from the land.

Malachi 3:10  “Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be FOOD IN MY HOUSE.  Test me
in this,” says the Lord Almighty, “and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so
much blessing that you will not have room enough for it.  I WILL PREVENT PESTS FROM DEVOURING YOUR
CROPS, AND THE VINES IN YOUR FIELDS WILL NOT CAST THEIR FRUIT,” says the Lord Almighty.

The Lord says to the nation of ISRAEL, if you tithe and do not rob me of THE PRODUCE OF YOUR LAND, I
will pour out my blessing by preventing pests from devouring your crops.

The TITHE in the above scripture refers to THE PROVISION OF FOOD FROM THE LAND, NOT MONEY.

But many Christians believe the tithe in the Old Testament refers to the produce of the land because they
did not have money at this time in history.  We will look closer at this next week.

Thank you so much for reading.  God bless.

Welcome and thanks for reading.

Let’s read one more requirement of the tithe from the original Israelite tribes.

Dueteronomy 14:28  At the end of EVERY THREE YEARS, bring all the tithes of that year’s produce and
store it in your towns, so that the Levites (who have no allotment or inheritance of their own) and THE
ALIENS, THE FATHERLESS AND THE WIDOWS who live in your towns may come and eat and be satisfied.

EVERY THREE YEARS, THE TITHE WAS NOT ONLY FOR THE LEVITES, BUT ALSO FOR THE LESS FORTUNATE.

Let’s review what we’ve read in Tithing 1-4.  So far, the Old Testament scriptures have established that the
TITHE refers to 10% of the PRODUCE, NOT MONEY, from the LAND of the ELEVEN ISRAELITE TRIBES.  This
produce was to be given to the LEVITE TRIBE because they HAD NO LAND INHERITANCE OF THEIR OWN.
The Levite tribe served RELIGIOUS DUTIES for the other eleven tribes.

ONCE A YEAR, the tithe was brought to the TOWN of the CENTRAL SANCTUARY.  If the central sanctuary
was TOO FAR, the produce would be EXCHANGED FOR SILVER.  UPON ARRIVAL, the silver would be EX-
CHANGED BACK FOR PRODUCE.  ALL TRIBES ATE from the tithe during the INITIAL FESTIVAL.  The rest of
the produce went to the Levites (twelfth tribe).

EVERY THIRD YEAR, part of the tithe went to the LESS FORTUNATE;  the ALIENS, the FATHERLESS,
and the WIDOWS.

Next week we will read specifically about money.  Is money included in the tithe?

Thank you so much for reading.  God bless.
