Last week we studied that the wall, surrounding the new Jerusalem, is symbolic. It symbolizes security to all believers in the new Jerusalem.
Let’s study the next scripture.
Revelation 21:14 The wall of the city had twelve foundations and on them were the names of the twelve apostles of the Lamb (Jesus).
We know the apostles are Simon the Zealot, Peter, Thomas, Bartholomew, John, Andrew, Peter, James the Greater and James the Lesser, Phillip, Mathew, and Mathias.
Again, this imagery is symbolic. It is not describing a physical foundation that physical structures rest upon. It is describing all believers that make up the new Jerusalem. The foundation of their faith is in the original twelve apostles.
Jesus and the Holy Spirit are the key to salvation, but the ministerial foundation or the teaching about Jesus and the Holy Spirit were continued by the twelve apostles. They are the foundation or the building blocks.
Those that take the apostles testimony and teachings to heart will be protected in the new Jerusalem forever, no matter what happens to them on the original earth.
Thank you so much for studying. God bless.
