Joshua has led the Israelites into the Promised Land.

Led by God, the first city that Joshua and the Israelites conquered was Jericho.

Joshua 6:20  When the trumpets sounded, the people shouted, and at the sound of the trumpet, when the people
gave a loud shout, the wall collapsed;  so every man charged straight in, and they took the city.

After Jericho, Joshua sent 30,000 of his best fighting men and attached the city of Ai.  They destroyed Ai.

By Gods command, Joshua and his army destroyed all of the southern cities of the Promised Land.  After that, they
conquered all of the northern kings and kingdoms.

Joshua 21:43  So the Lord gave Israel all the land he had sworn to give their forefathers, and they took
possession of it and settled there.

After conquering the entire land, the twelve tribes of Israel were alotted land to possess.

You might be wondering how a loving God can command his people to conquer and destroy other
people?

The book of Joshua should be read as a book of history and redemption.  How God, to whom the whole world be-
longs, at one stage in history, reconquered a portion of this world and their false Gods.

The Lord’s triumph over the Canaanites testified to the world that the God of Israel is the one true and living God,
whose claim on the world is absolute.

Thank you so much for reading.  God bless.
