Continuing the lineage from Noah’s son Shem to Abraham.

From Shem to Arphaxed to Shelah to Eber to Peleg to Ren to Serug to Nahor to Terah to Abram (Abraham).

Genesis 10:25  Two sons were born of Eber:  One was named Peleg, because in his time the earth was divid-
ed.

Several generations after Noah, at the time of Peleg, the earth was divided.  Here’s the first part of how the
earth was divided.

Genesis 11:1  Now the whole world had one language and a common speech.

Genesis 11:4  Then they said, “Come, let us build ourselves a city, with a tower that reaches to the
heavens, so that we may make a name for ourselves and not be scattered over the face of the earth.

make a name for ourselves …       The plans of the people were egotistical and proud.  There would be no limit
to mans pride and rebellion against God.  They were trying to reach heaven by mans ability and not by Gods.  Only
the Holy Spirit can remove sin and grant entrance into heaven.

Many believe the tower was similar to the ziggurat or typical Mesopotamian temple.  It was square at the base and
had slopping, stepped sides that led to a small shrine at the top.

Next week, exactly how did God divide the earth?  It may be obvious to some of you but it is important to get the
Old Testament stories accurate.

Thank you so much for reading.  God bless

Jeff
