Conclusion 2:  As we mentioned last week, only the prophets and apostles are given a specific task or assignment
from God.

I want to clarify that a prophet is different from a person who has the gift of prophecy.  If you have the
gift of prophecy, it doesn’t mean you are a prophet.

A prophet is the chief spokesman of a movement or cause that comes from God.  A prophet sometimes
foretells the future- what God is going to do or what his plans are.

A person who practices the gift of prophecy, gives words of strengthening, encouragement and com-
fort.  They may see a vision or have a strong impression to deliver words of encouragement to people in the
church.  Prophecy is random as needed for people in need.

Next week, we will start reading about the history of the Old Testament.  We will quickly look at how we went from
Adam to Jesus.  One of the subjects we will examine is “Did Adam and Eve’s children commit incest in order to
populate the world?”

Thank you so much for reading.  God bless.

Jeff
