We have read that when you figure out your natural gifts, whatever you do with your natural gifts is up to
you.  You have a choice.  Once you have decided, God will direct your steps to give you the desires of your

This leads us to the following questions.  Are there times in history when God called certain people to a specific
task or assignment?  Who are they?

Amos 3:7  Surely the sovereign Lord does nothing without revealing his plan to his servants the prophets.

Jeremiah 1:5  Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart;  I appointed
as a prophet to the nations.

When God has a specific plan, he chooses people to act as prophets.  When revealing the mystery of
Christ Jesus, he choose twelve apostles.

Ephesians 3:5   … the mystery of Christ, which was not made known to men in other generations as it has been
revealed by his Spirit to God’s holy apostles and prophets.

Throughout history, when God has a specific plan or assignment, a movement, he chooses a person or per-
sons to act as a prophet or prophets.  When God wants to initiate a moral reform or important belief, a
new way of thinking, he chooses a person or persons to act as an apostle or apostles.

For example, God chose the Prophet Moses to free the Israelite slaves.  He chose the Prophet Joshua to lead the
Israelites into the promised land.  He chose the Prophet Jeremiah to preach repentance and announce the destruc-
tion of the kingdom of Judah for their wickedness.  He chose Mary to give birth to Jesus Christ.  He chose the
Apostle John to baptize and make way for the arrival of Jesus.  He choose the Apostle Paul to write and teach
about justification by faith and not by works, and the reconciliation of all men.  His letters became many of the
book in the New Testament.

Next week, we will read a scripture that confuses many Christians concerning God’s plan for all people.

Thank you so much for reading.  God bless.
