In Genesis 6:1-2 we read that the “sons of God” or descendants of Seth no longer called on the name of the Lord.
They saw that the “daughters of men” or descendants of Cain were beautiful.  They married and had sex with any
of them they chose.

In the very next verse, Genesis 6:3, God said “My Spirit will not contend with man forever.”  Again, this verse tells
us that God is talking about fallen man, not fallen angels.

The very next verses express God’s disappointment in man.

Genesis 6:5  The Lord saw how great man’s wickedness on earth had become, and that every inclination of the
thoughts of his heart was evil all the time.

Genesis 6:6  The Lord was grieved that he made man on earth, and his heart was filled with pain.

Genesis 6:7  So the Lord said, “I will wipe mankind, whom I have created, from the face of the earth.

Genesis 6:8  But Noah found favor in the eyes of the Lord.

Genesis 6:9  through Genesis 7:24 tells us how Noah and his family were to build an ark.  God flooded the earth
and destroyed all mankind.  Only Noah and his family survived and started to repopulate the earth.

Next week, the conclusion to Genesis 6:1-2.

Thank you so much for reading.  God bless.
