fantastic rays

Last week we read that God will sometimes withhold his physical healing from people of faith for the purpose of
correction and discipline.  God may be giving you a loving reminder to stop a certain action or sin.

This week, let’s read about the Apostle Paul.

2 Corinthians 12:7  To keep me (Apostle Paul) from becoming conceited because of these surpassingly
great revelations, there was given me a thorn in my flesh, a messenger of Satan, to torment me.

The precise nature of Pauls affliction or thorn remains unknown.  Some say the thorn was an eye disease (Gal. 6:11).
Others say the thorn was a person or persons continually harassing him (Numbers 33:55).  Still others say the thorn
was an Angel of Satan continually causing doubt in his life.

2 Corinthians 12:8  Three times I (Apostle Paul) pleaded with the Lord to take it (the thorn) away from me.  But he
said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in your weakness.”

There are times when God withholds his physical healing from people of faith to keep them humble.
To keep them from becoming conceited or boastful.  He wants us to rely on him.  Gods power and
glory is seen best in our weakness.  People will know that we could not do certain good deeds under
our abilities alone.

The next two weeks we are going to expand into suffering.  Why does God allow us to physically or mentally suffer?

Thank you so much for reading.  God bless.

Jeff
