Last week we read that everyone that has ever lived has sinned.

This week, what are the consequences of sin?

Romans 5:12  Therefore, just as sin entered the world through one man (Adam), and death through sin, and in
this way death came to all men, because all sinned-

Romans 6:23  For the wages of sin is death.

But why does breaking God’s law or sinning lead to death?

It’s because by God’s very nature he can’t live with the things he told you not to do.  By his very nature he
can’t live with sin.  By sinning you are separating yourself from a Holy God.  Death refers to physical
death but also spiritual death.

Isaiah 59:2  But your iniquities have separated you from God;  your sins have hidden his face from you,
so that we will not hear.

Now the question becomes, if everyone sins and sin leads to death (eternal separation from God), why did God
bother to create man?  We will answer this question next week.

Thank you so much for reading.  God bless.
