Defining the human soul and spirit is very difficult.  I will share my point of view.  If you have a different point
of view or can expand on mine, please express your opinion.

Let’s begin by locating the human soul and spirit.  The soul and spirit is not located within the entire body.  If a
doctor amputates your arm or leg, you still have a consciousness, a soul and spirit.   If a doctor removes your
kidney, you still have a consciousness, a soul and spirit.

The human soul and spirit is some kind of energy or essence with no physical form that we know of.  This
energy is some how embedded with a persons brain.  This energy is also invisible to the human eye.

As best as I can determine, the human soul and spirit is the eternal component of a person that is fashioned in
the very image of God and can exist apart from the physical body.

When a person knows the Messiah, the Holy Spirit dwells within their soul and spirit.  As their human spirit
communicates with the Holy Spirit, they become “born again.”   The following scripture speaks to being
“born again.”  Being born of a new way of thinking, a new way of seeing things.

Romans 12:2  “Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing
of your MIND.”

Here, I think the MIND is referring to the human soul/spirit which is different from the brain.  The brain is the
physical.  The mind or soul/spirit is embedded with the human brain and works with the brain in the physical
but separates upon death.

Another thing that happens when a person knows the Messiah and the Holy Spirit dwells within their soul/spirit.
God sees the human soul/spirit as righteous and pure, allowing their human soul/spirit to enter his presence after
physical death.  This is called “salvation.”  At the second coming of Christ, a persons righteous soul/spirit will be
reunited with their spiritual body.  The old sinful body cannot inherit the kingdom of God.  We will study this
more during Revelations.

Next week, we will start defining the difference between the human soul and spirit.

Thank you so much for reading.  God bless.
