         COINCIDENCE 8

Thanks for reading.  We have read that God can protect those who wear the full armor of God and those who
continually listen to the Holy Spirit.

So, what about the apostles and prophets like Mathew, Mark, John and Paul, etc.  They wore the full armor of
God and continually listened to the Holy Spirit.  Why were they persecuted and killed?

John 15:19  As it is, you do not belong to this world, but I HAVE CHOSEN YOU OUT OF THIS WORLD.  This is
why the world hates you…  If they persecute me (Jesus), THEY WILL PERSECUTE YOU (DISIPLES) ALSO.  If
they obeyed my teaching, they will obey yours also.  THEY WILL TREAT YOU THIS WAY BECAUSE OF MY NAME
for they do not know the one (GOD) who sent me.

In this verse, JESUS IS SPECIFICALLY TALKING TO HIS TWELVE DISCIPLES.  He is telling them that they will be
hated just like he was.  As we read in Mission 7 and 8, there are only a few people (apostles/prophets) through-
out history that God choose for a specific task.  THERE ARE ALSO ONLY A FEW PEOPLE  THROUGHOUT HISTORY
THAT GOD CHOOSE TO DIE FOR THEIR FAITH.  ONLY A FEW WERE CALLED TO BE MARTYRS.

The disciples were the closest followers of Jesus.  They preached and teached and healed as Jesus did.  As Jesus
was a threat, the Apostles were also a threat to the religious leaders (Pharisees) and the religious belief system.

Thessalonians tells us that most Christians are not called to be martyrs but should live a quite life.

1 Thessalonians 4:11  Make it your ambition to lead a quite life, to mind your own business and work with your
hands.

For risk of being too lengthy, I’ve decided to go one more week on this subject.  Next week, I will conclude the
subject of Coincidence before starting the Trinity.

Thanks so much for reading.  God bless.

Jeff
